Indoor air quality is a growing concern in today’s world, and it is important to make sure to have trained experts in charge of that air quality. In both home and office, maximized health and functioning are dependent on making sure the air is breathable, comfortable, and minimally contaminated.
As office buildings grow ever higher, and the outside air quality, particularly in large cities, becomes substantially poorer, the common building standard has moved increasingly toward limiting exterior access to the entrances and exits. It is a simple safety feature to install windows on the 20th or 120th floor which do not open, and on days when heat, humidity and smog combine to make city streets distinctly unpleasant, opening a window would provide anything but a breath of fresh air.
Another growing issue with indoor air quality is that of growing scent allergies among the population. More and more offices are fragrance-free for the comfort of those who become ill with over-exposure to perfumes-a hazard in any heavily populated building-with similar extant allergies to dust, pollen, mold and anything else that can become airborne and irritate the nasal passages.
The same issue applies to a daily increasing number of machines and fabrication processes. In the world of ever-smaller microchips, wires, and parts not yet imagined, building air quality is more important than it’s ever been. It is, therefore, imperative that air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems are kept in good repair.
Keeping indoor air quality good and making sure the systems are functional requires that the building in question have a reputable air and heating contractor who knows their business, has well-trained and educated employees, and services the systems in a timely fashion.
Another benefit of a ventilation system which functions efficiently to provide good air quality for an entire building and a consistent temperature is that by keeping the air fresh and circulating, it can help maintain the health of the building’s inhabitants. By providing a temperature range without sudden variations and eliminating the highest number possible of outside allergens, a good air and heating system will reduce sick days and increase employee productivity.
A heating and air conditioning system that maintains good air quality is equally crucial in the private home as it is for the office. There are many people with health issues, especially the elderly, for whom having a comfortable indoor temperature is vital for their health. Temperatures which are too high or too low can be detrimental, so again, having a well-maintained system is essential.
Indoor air-quality is something to which increasing attention is being paid due to decreasing outside air conditions and more time than ever spent indoors. With that in mind, especially in hot and humid areas like Atlanta, having a system that is maintained by licensed and trained contractors is vital to the health and efficiency of both people and machinery. This is more than making sure the air-conditioning works, but that all parts function well.. Efficiently functioning systems will positively impact quality of life and quality of business.
